Turanlar Primary School, Germencik-AYDIN-Turkey
Germencik is located between Kuşadası and Selçuk -where are touristic places-, Aydın and İzmir -where are big cities-. Our school is in a village of Germencik. Turanlar Village is inside o plain and people here deal with stockbreeding and agriculture. We are very near to beautiful seasides, historical places, and big cities.
Turanlar Primary School is in a village in Germencik as mentioned. There are 168 students and 14 teachers in our school. English is taught as a second language. Children live with their families and parents work in fields, fig gardens and a small factory. Some parents go to Aydın to work. Children's life pass between school and home, and some students go to courses. They need something different to meet real life. They need to meet different cultures, different beliefs, different places as they are at the beginning of their life experiences. They will get a new vision of life via this project. Getting this kind of vision is very difficult without these kinds of projects because of economical situation of the village.
Our aims are to make students:
-understand that foreign language talking is really necessary and speak English fluently,
-study, work, make organizations interculturally,
-trust each other and themselves,
-respect personal differences, different beliefs, different thoughts,
-be responsible of any kind of things
-be motivated by playing games for the purpose of learning a language, cooperating and getting an aim,
-get accustomed to European dimension.
Our expectations are:
-adding many other teaching and learning activities through games,
-having intercultural experiences as both students and teachers,
-meeting different identities,
-being a model to other schools here,
-making lessons more enjoyable,
-acquiring different aspects of view,
-being a member of European education family.
Turkish people we have many many traditional games. By this projects we will also reach the games which were played by our mothers, fathers, even grandparents. The most enjoyable thing is that we will play these games internationally.
So c'mon, let's start the game :)
